With it being just a little over 8 weeks until Edinburgh Comic Con 2016, we felt it was appropriate to take a look at how things are shaping up.
This year, the event will move from it’s previous home at Potterrow to Edinburgh International Conference Centre, and will be held on the 2nd and 3rd of April 2016.
Those of you who are familiar with ECC will have witnessed it grow from a small upstairs room in a social club, to a much more successful convention, gaining third place in the recent poll run by Comic Conventions UK, and placing well ahead of all other Scottish events.
This years guest list includes the usual balance between comic creators and film and TV guests, but also adds a number of cosplay guests into the mix for the first time.
Comic guests seem to include an extraordinary amount of international guests, who if I’m not mistaken, are all UK exclusives. This include artists such as Chris Burnham (Nameless, Batman Incorporated), Jorge Jimenez (Earth 2: Society, Earth 2: World’s End), Marco Rudy (Bucky Barnes: Winter Soldier), Sara Richard (My Little Pony), Nick Pitarra (The Manhattan Projects), Dan McDaid (Judge Dredd, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes) and award winning writers such as John Lees, Gordon Rennie and Emma Beeby.
From the world of TV/film/gaming, guests include impressive names such as Cas Anavar (Assassins Creed, The Expanse), Patricia Tallman (Babylon 5, Star Trek), Kerry Ingram (Game of Thrones) and Femi Taylor (Star Wars).
In addition to the newly added cosplay guests, the ECC Cosplay Championship will return for it’s third year, this time with an increased first place prize of a whopping £500 cash prize!
We’re obviously very excited, as we’ll be exhibiting at the show, but with many more announcements still to be made, we can only speculate at what’s to come next.
